Real Change Depends on Stopping the Bailout Profiteers

Naomi Klein

To understand the meaning of the U.S. election results, it is worth looking back to the moment when everything changed for the Obama campaign. It was, without question, the moment when the economic crisis hit Wall Street.

Up to that point, things weren't looking all that good for Barack Obama. The Democratic National Convention barely...

I'm sorry I've been away so long. I'm gonna try to be better about keeping up with everything again. So how have you been?

Remember, remember the Fifth of November
niobe:
That was a very cool video. I will be watching that movie tonight. smile
satya:
I was referring to my set The Rack, shot by Lithium Picnic, who was a really popular & notorious photographer on the site until last year.

Random fact: My really good childhood friend's last name was Ellwood.

And the junior senator from Illinois FTW.

I dig this:

Somebody PM me when this reformatting clusterfuck is straightened out. Happy trails 'til then.
dmac:
*sigh* I've been thru so many re-formats with this site by now that I just keep clicking and figure I'll get used to it. The only constant around here is change and everyone always hates it when it initially happens. We're such creatures of habit and new stuff rubs us the wrong way.

But I agree with you in that I really don't give a shit about mini bar sentences. Whatever! whatever
niobe:
Yeah this is interesting. But I have seen the site go through a lot of changes over the years. This one isn't so bad.

I was on Guitargeeks blog and saw that you're looking [ getting? ] an older
Triumph. Permatex can cure those oil leaks. Of course the old joke
about Harleys and Triumphs was: if it stopped leaking it was time to add
oil. Learning to set the points and valve lash isn't that difficult.
I got a sweet deal on my Triumph-America, a left over 2007. You should be
able to get a deal on any left overs. They had a '07 Bonny for $6500.
Good luck and Ride.

I also saw your comment in GG's blog. I've got one of the newer triumphs, the Thruxton, as well as a 73 Norton. I was going to recommend you take a look at a Kawasaki W650. they haven't made them for five or seven years but they were 100x more authentic a copy of the old brits (basically a bonneville clone in appearances) than the newer Triumphs like mine. They've got a kicker and everything. If I had it to do over I'd probably get one of those used instead of my Thruxton. The Norton has been nothing but trouble. If it were my only non-essential bike I could deal with wrenching to keep it on the road, but as it is i've got too many projects to spend so much time so often on it...

2001 Kawasaki W650:

2008 Triumph Bonneville:

One good thing about the triumphs is that there's so many of them around. Tons of aftermarket stuff available.

One good thing about the kawasaki is that there are so few of them around. You'll ride forever until you come across another guy on one.

but if you want my real advice, just re-read GG's post. If I had room for another bike It's be a Z1. If you're interested in a cafe'd 73 Norton commando you can buy mine & I'll get the z1!

"In times of change, the patriot is a scarce man; brave hated, and scorned." - Mark Twain

Hmmm.... I will be voting for Obama in a few weeks, but I seem to be leaning more toward Libertarian these days. ...Well, aside from my vehement support of environmental regulations, socialized health care, and strong reformation and increased funding of the public school system; so I guess not...

I never could write fiction. I've never really been that good of a liar. And, now, my own life isn't worth rambling on about, so what the hell is left? ...a historical biography series cataloging the evolution of smooth jazz douche-bags? ...musings over the loss of atmosphere in every old hang out here in Austin since the enforcement of the smoking ban and the increase...

I'm gonna have to come back and read this later, that's a load of text...

Dude. You came to Austin?!?

Yeah, man, I'm sorry I didn't have much time, my days were booked long in advance by old friends, and I didn't have a lot of advance notice. But hey, I'll be back! I want to ride my motorcycle down there when I get it done, probably next Spring. There are some great twisty roads in the hill country that I want to tackle.

I just started working out again. I have been sleeping better which is nice, but everything else is going to take a lot longer to go the way I want it to. *le sigh*

I am gonna be 25 next Friday. I feel old. frown

Well, I'm thirty. ...too old to die young now.

I have found myself fascinated with my own behavior and changing tastes of late. I had read (or heard) at some point that a study between breast-men and those who were more attracted to legs and ass showed that breast-men were far more likely to be outgoing and extroverted, while leg-men were often more introverted and...

You still think you might make it down in the next couple of months?

Potentially. I'd like to come down when I get my bike done, kinda depends on my health and finances. I rode down a couple years ago October, good time for a road trip: Not so hot but not too cold, mostly dry.

Why, what's going on?

very belated.. but YES! Let's penpal it up!! biggrin
