The Waves
And the waves crash down on me
Like the reality of my days
An ocean of time
Awaiting my prostrate shore
I feel myself slide
Deeper into the wash
A drifting away
The pull of the world
Relentless
I came here long ago
And here I will remain
No longer the stone of my youth
But now the sand of my age
And the waves crash down on me
Even when you turn away
Tiring of the poetic beauty
The sun having set
Long ago
I will remain
And I will feel
And the waves will crash
And the world is relentless
