I'm so happy that i am finally going to have two Degus as part of the family👏😎 once our last gerbil died , RIP Bruce, and the cage needed replacing i decided to try and get a couple of degus as they live twice as long as gerbils and i have been fascinated with them for years! I remember seeing these 'odd looking' rodents on a tv programme or film years ago and trying to find out what they were! Once i found out they were Degus i knew i would one day have some!
Degus are not popular pets in the U.K. and i had no luck finding any baby ones anywhere near where i live! So that only left the option of adopting some, i wanted to try and get them from a rescue centre rather than an individual as they are more likely to be genuine and to look after them!! I found two rescue centres in Nottingham which is anout 15 miles away from me, one had several different Degus for adoption but found out they were located upstairs so would have meant extra pain climbing the stairs. The other centre had two 1 and half year old females called Chica and Nica and there was a youtube video of them. So contacted the centre, filled out an adoption questionaire and got a email back last night saying they are mine and the dates i can pick them up😎 so a week tomorrow i will be going to pick up Chica and Nica.
I have a nice big cage coming from Amazon tomorrow and will be going to local Pets at Home store to get bedding, food, hays and toys etc. What i cant find from the store i will order from Amazon! So excited 🤣🤣🤣
