Since Christmas is right around the corner, @Missy and @rambo have asked about how we spread holiday cheer! Well...
When it comes to the holidays, things have always been weird in my family.
Because my dad left when I was 5, I’ve always had a split Christmas. As a kid, it was great because I had twice as many presents to open! But as I got older and I started to learn more about who was considered my family, things got harder and weird. Eventually, I stopped talking to my father all together.
So that meant there were only 3 other members of my family that I would spend Christmas with. Which sounds great, but my brother doesn’t like Christmas. He enjoys spending the time with family and the exchanging of gifts, he just hates the whole red and green everywhere and how fake happy everybody is. In the end, the only reason we ever celebrated Christmas at home was because I still enjoyed it.
But now, I’ll be spending my first Christmas away from home and in Savannah with my boyfriend. My mother will be coming down for the week, but it will be weird to not be back home.
However, I’m very excited because this means I get to do Christmas how I want this year. Since my boyfriend is also not a huge fan of the red and green, we’ve decided to extend Halloween into the holidays! As you can see, our fireplace mantel is very homey and Martha Stewart esque. I also made my first wreath this year and I gotta say, I think it came out great!
We will be getting our tree in the next few weeks. I’m really excited because we will be covering it with spider webs, Halloween ornaments, and various other ghoulie things! I’m slowly starting a collection of homey Halloween things so if you have any suggestions, please put it in the comments!
I saw other girls posting their wishlists because people have asked and there is a Hopeful Secret Santa going on so here is mine! I also love love LOVE books so if there is something you feel I NEED TO HAVE, send it! I'll totally read it!
I'll be posting more holiday stuff as it goes on, but right now I have a big present to work on.
