So, we go from feeling on it to feeling under it. Getting to writing and thinking and then... the waters rise. Hah! Literally. Came in friday night to find about 2" of water in my daughter's room, her homework floating. The water heater broke in the laundry room and flooded her room, as well as part of our storage room and livingroom.
The bad things:...

Very true about the gum, but something tells me that I won't stay hooked on it. It is way too nasty to get hooked on, and it gives me heartburn.

OMG, in my old house I had the water heater bust....it was 6am, and we were all asleep, then the smoke alarm started going off. We had no idea why, searched the house, and opened the door to the room where the water heater was....and STEAM WAS POURING OUT LIKE SMOKE. the whole room was soaked and hot water was spraying everywhere. What a nightmare. Good luck to you, I'll send you my dry thoughts.

Happy Turkey Day!

Arrright, I'm going to make those pickles. I've been reading and gathering materials. I found out the local hardware store carries all kinds of canning supplies and I was able to get a case of jars.
It was one of those stock-up days yesterday. Made a huge pot of red and black beans to go over rice. I went to the Cheese Store for cheese...

That was an incredibly kind comment you left for me. Made me think of music, and that's good right now because I'm incredibly tired. I'd say thank you better if it wasn't such a long weekend but take it on faith, that was deeply sweet and greatly, greatly appreciated.

i <3 pickles. let me know how it goes. is it hard to make them? i wouldn't imagine so.

Rainy rain, and the day off. Lots of coffee and good music. Of course I should be upright and productive, but the election has done something weird to me... something I have to call good?. I've spent the past years working my ass off, keeping the bacon in the larder and in recent years being able to buy records. Upright and hardworking. Somehow Bush's reelection...

I am crushed by Bush's slim margin of victory. I fear the future in a way I never have before. Our country has been denigrated by a liar, a megalomaniac whose self-interest outweighs any decisions he makes about this nation. He allows the tenets of his adopted religion to dictate policy; his moral compass is nowhere near mine, and I resent the overt morality and...

Ok, eminem may not be my favourite rapper, but I've always respected his work and his significance. Today he's earned my admiration with his new video, Mosh. <---- There's the link! Check it out. With all the crap coming down in this country these past weeks and months, I'm encouraged to see such a rational, eloquent, appropriate and rockin call to action. Mr. Bush...

So, yeah, I'm back.

Back at work, back in my head, all that. Many thanks for alll who left me birthday wishes, my heart is warmer for it.

Yesterday was the Love Parade in SF. Brilliant day of music and fun... beats and freaks galore! Space Cowboys rock, the Unimog is a fierce noise beast. Last weekend, Folsom Street Fair! What a day, I only...

Portland!
Foggy and cool, I have little fire burning here and a new book from my cousin. Ship of Gold in the Deep Blue Sea, treasure hunting.

Last night we formulated plans to open a Pirate Daycare, for the littlest pirates. Muskets issued when you turn four.

The drive was uneventful, but of course long. Radio reception was spotty at best, mom's tape deck needs...

Cars are meant for us regular types to stay exactly where we are.

Goddamned music. I'd have all kinds of furniture and NASCAR trinkets without it.

Mick Harris as in Napalm Death, Painkiller, etc? Kool.

Coffee, coffee, coffee. Elixer of the gods. Oh it's nice this mroning, I have coffee from Hawaii given to me by the groom of last week's wedding. The beans are really tiny, I never knew Hawiian coffee was so small. It's very smooth and robust though. I usually like really dark roasts, but this is good good.

So, today is all about house cleaning and...

Home again, home again.
This afternoon was the first time I've sat down and relaxed since before going to LA for the wedding event. Phew. Seriously. I've been catching up on sleep a bit too! So exciting.

The wedding went well, it was a good time all-round. I was very happy with what I'd written, and how I'd been able to find the thread I...

Last week of school, and we're in full meltdown mode over here. No one speaks in complete sentences, no one gets enough sleep. Too many things to do and not enough time to do any of em right... I hate that feeling. It happens every year.

However... the wedding ceremony writing is going well. The happy couple are approving of my work, and there are...

Man, writing this wedding ceremony is a bear! Non-traditional in every sense, we want gender-neutrality, no gods involved, handfasting, ring exchange. If these two were getting married without parent-pressures, the boy would be wearing the dress and the girls the tux! They're a perfect couple, and I want to write them the perfect ceremony... they're so stressed right now they're not being much help wink
I...
