Just a quick update from Brazil. I'm changing planes in Soa Paulo right now. I'm heading back to the beach after 5 days in the Amazon.
The jungle was awesome, saw a giant sloth sleeping way up in a tree, howler monkeys, cute little TELUS monkeys (I'm not sure what they're called), macaws and big ass Amazon trees; swam with Dolphins (they liked me), fished for Pirhana, held a baby boa constricter and watched an anaconda slowly squeeze they life out of a lamb. It was incredible. OK, I'm kidding about the anaconda and the lamb, I just thought I'd throw that one in there for effect. There was a picture in the jungle lodge's little natural museum of an anaconda wrapped around a cow, disgusting and cool at the same time! Didn't see any in person, unfortunately.
We went on a jungle walk and chewed a leaf that is a natural source of quinine (sp?) which is malaria vaccine, and squished ants that are a natural insect repellant (when squished, of course), saw rubber trees and acai trees (mmm acai gelato is yummy, yummy), and Brazil nut trees. Crap,
now I mention Brazil nuts I realize I didn't buy any, nuts that is. I wanted to buy a tonne of them. Funny I didn't see any in the market in Manaus. I guess I didn't wander into the nut section at all. I did get Guarana root (a nice stimulant) and Erva Matte, which is a coffee substitute that doesn't give you the shakes, and a herbal aphrodisiac! Can't wait to try that one out!

herbal aphrodisiac? Explain that at the border crossing or at the airport terminal nazis.
