There is a lot of just general nerd rage out there over this season of Game Of Thrones. Now maybe this just has to do with the crappy embittered parts of the internet that I frequent. What makes me say this is that I had the pleasure of listening to A Podcast of Ice and Fire. I love my peeps on APIF. The are dedicated book fans who are highly opinionated and foul mouthed. Both of which in my book are certified WIN!
That being said, just because pacing and dialogue in the book play out one way is no reason to flip the coffee table over in a fit of rage because you don't like the conversation between Sansa and the Hound in episode eight. Maybe I am too easily pleased, but I am waaaay too much of a hater to be pleased by much of anything for any length of time.
Let's be frank, AGOT is very well writtten, superbly acted and even though it pisses off the picayune among us, the additional scenes and dialogue and general changes are much better television than being absolutely faithful ever could be.
(SPOILER ALERT)
Let's talk about Blackwater. I know that there are going to be a lot of people pissed off about the fucking chain. Fuck the stupid chain. Now that we have seen the episode, I can here the raging nerds "No chain? No Chain? Then Tyrion did nothing at all this whole season and it was Cersei's plan, not Tyrion's." My response. "Whatever." The episode wasn't about cleverness. It was about courage. The principle theme at work here is pretty much "How do we each react in the face of fear."
The Hound is unmanned by fire, Lancel takes an arrow and runs to the queen, Tyrion man's up, Stannis tries to win the war single-handedly, Joffrey is a whiny cunt. (huge surprise) Cersei gets drunk and mean. Byt the way I just want to say that I was really digging that bronze corset thing that the queen was wearing. This was a very well written episode and not only was it a pretty good battle, it revealed a lot of character and that is good writing!
It's late, I've said enough. Time to fuck off.

How is Dragon Con? I've never been.

Dragon Con is pretty flipping amazing. The whole Con takes over downtown ATL from Fri to Mon. It has so much to do that anyone from the casual fan to the hardcore nerd to just a gawker with a camera will have a blast. What is also nice is the fact that the con goes on 24 hours a day. Because everything is so centralized it is very easy to meet/hang out/have drinks with celebs of all kinds. It's still all volunteer run too. In a nutshell it is AWESOME! So much fun. You should come!
