Holy shitsnacks it's been a while since I blogged! So much has happened since May I'm not even sure where to start!
@hemi was here for a visit mid-May and while she was here, we had a trial stay over with a puppy we were really interested in. We fell in love, immediately and have now added Keena (at that time named Hiccup) to our family. She's part lab part pharaoh hound, and some days I think she is part hellhound. She was about 8 months old when we adopted her, and she was rescued from a very unfortunate situation in a home where she and her brother weren't even allowed outside. We've had some bad habits to break, but still get the ridiculous energy of a young puppy. Astrid tolerates her, and has lost a good 5 pounds since we have had her from running and playing. Wednesday the 13th the bunny could give two shit less about her, since he is in his own little world. Corey is ecstatic to finally have a dog.
She, unfortunately got pretty ill after we had her spayed and had to have a quick vet trip and some meds to help her stomach, but it also forced us to break down and just rip out the carpet in the house, since it was so damaged from her. We lived with the awkward hardwood floors for a good month, and took the opportunity of having moved all the furniture, to paint the living room and dining room. So plus side, the house is really starting to have our personalities to it. Next rooms to paint will be the bunny's room and guest room, and we are getting some fantastic furniture for the guest room delivered late August. As of Thursday, our new floating hardwood floors have been completely installed and we are slowly moving the furniture back into place, it's been a pretty hectic week.
I'm currently on my second set of synthetic dreads, this time it is a set of wool ones, custom dyed. I was testing out a wefted installation for the designer, then my boss and I turned them into double ended ones. I'm really enjoying them, but I enjoyed the short break between with shorter hair. I'm sure I will alternate between dreads and my usual hair for a while.
I've decided to load this set with beads and release my inner sea witch. I made some really cool cuffs with small vertebrae dangling from them and bought tentacle wraps.
It's been a surprisingly mild, comfortable summer here, we had wonderful thunderstorms yesterday and the night before, with a good dash of hail too. It's really nice to have a job with regular hours and weekends off, I've gotten so much accomplished around the house and in the yard. Speaking of which, I need to get back to cleaning!
