I think everyone here would agree boobies are a very, very good thing, yes? So now's your chance to support them...and I don't mean wear a bra. I'm doing a run for breast cancer this October in Toronto and would really, really appreciate your donations. My team is currently about $500 away from our $5000 goal!

Donate here!

(Team Knitty, by the way, is comprised...

Soon to be on the road again (damn you, Willie Nelson! get out of my head!)... pardon infrequent updating.

First, a knitting-related convention in Columbus, then spinning stuff in Tennessee, then to New England for book photo-taking, then to LA to tape a TV show, then through the Pacific Northwest and California for more book photos and...all in all, I'll be gone for over a...

Wow! Congrats on the book! I'm a long time knitter, and have fancied learning spinning (because I need another hobby! ) When does your book hit the stores? I'll want to pick it up.

Anyhoo, just wanted to say hi, and congrats!

Cool. Where do I sign up? Not sure if it'll end up being something I do long term, but it sounds like it's worth trying out if nothing else for the heck of it. smile
bittergirl:
Actually, I won't be teaching knitting per se...class participants should already know how to knit. We're just going to be diving into some specialized plant fiber yarns...

Wal-Mart is coming to Cleveland, so SUCK IT UP. That's our mayor's opinion, anyway. The revolt has begun.

Woohoo! Any word on time and places for protests of the Wal-Mart?
archangel_m:
For those of who who are interested and are able to make it down there...

On Thursday, June 9th at 7:00 P.M. there will be a town hall meeting at West Shore Unitarian Universalist Church regarding the proposed Wal-Mart project in Rocky River. Wal-Mart wants to tear down Westgate Mall and build yet ANOTHER store in the spot, despite the fact that there is already a stor in North Olmsted just a few miles away, easily accesible by the main roads as well as the freeway. Attending this meeting will be the mayor of Rocky River.

Remember, that's Thursday, June 9th at 7:00 P.M. at West Shore Unitarian Universalist Church in Rocky River.

20401 Hilliard BLVD. You can get more information as well as directions by calling 1-440-895-0463.

My dad revolutionized the loom for textile artists. They are the best looms money can buy. they are gorgeous objects. part machine part beautiful furniture. I emailed him asking for some jpegs to show you. And my mom is a weaver. so i asked for pics on that too. One time i got a photo gig from a textile artist when she found out who my parents were. Not like they are famous or anything just known in some circles

Two new books.
Two new books.

Can you say it along with me?

"I will not be sleeping until approximately January 2006."

It's true. Also true: I am hitting the road this summer to take photos for one of the books and hopefully, photos for another book proposal I'm working on. I'll be in NYC, Boston, Portland (Maine), Burlington (Vermont), Los Angeles, San Francisco, Portland...

Haha, I am so behind in my reading it's ridiculous. I may have to go on a roadtrip myself just to have an excuse to get away from the world and get caught up!

I just figured out how to do this crafty-assed thing with my inkjet printer...jumping up and down excited! (Meanwhile, my boyfriend thinks I am a total craft dork. Oh well. He also laughed at me for thinking new Dawn dish soap with bleach looks awesome).

Ok, SG-land...think of this as Are You Hot, Or Not? for living spaces. Do you have a really kickass apartment/living space? Would you be willing to share it with the world? (Well, parts of it, anyway -- I don't expect anyone to bare their bathroom cabinets to the world unless you've got some amazingly kickass organizational system). Leave me a message or email me, I've...

I just did that quiz too....interesting. Some of the cities that seem fairly close on target were, Eugene Or, Portland OR, and SanFrancisco CA. Corvallis came up for me too. I want my boyfriend to do it too, i think his would come up different in some ways, as he likes smaller towns and skiing, so i want to see what his list looks like.

Those horns are awesome huh? I am borrowing my boyfriends horns in that picture. Mine are smaller, black, with tiny purple sparkles on them. We got them at First Thursday in Portland....its an art festival every first Thurs of the month, all the galleries have free admittance, people set up booths of arts, crafts, and weird stuff on the sidewalks, and people play music in the galleries and sometimes on the street corners. The woman who made the horns also has really awesome masks that look like they are from The Labyrinth mascarade scene. She even designed some masks for an Iron Maiden album cover, i don't know why that excites me, but it does. Here is her site, if you want to go look.......you probably could shorten the elastic that the horns are attached to in order to fit a kitty head, but it probably wouldn't stay on very long. Long enough for a photo op! biggrin
