I was talking to a cargo ship captain a while back. He said it takes something like 5 miles to bring one of those big bad girls to a full stop. I always thought that sounded so crazy, my only point of reference being a car. See obstacle, hit brakes, stop.
It comes down physics...the larger the mass and speed of an object the longer it takes to stop. Then I started thinking how that applies to life. The bigger the issue and the faster it's charging the harder it is to change direction.
I've been trying to use this to see how I can dig out from under some serious shit. It's the depressing realization that I need to start applying the brakes now and applying them for a long ass time.
