Made macarons. The french meringue kind. I made chocolate shells with Godiva white chocolate liqueur/raspberry puree buttercream frosting. Good stuff. They were painful has fuck to make. I cried a little. Should have made 4 dozen with the ingredients, threw so much out I got 15 cookies. The recipes were off as far as ingredients, which after looking at the book's reviews on Amazon, can be best explained by the Japanese to English translation. They looked mostly like decent macarons, but the icing was a bit off from the raspberry mixed in and was too soft and squishy when you tried to bite into them.
Luckily, overnight, the icing hardened and they now have the proper macaron bite. Too bad there's only five left.
I'll make them again, eventually. I need a better recipe with a more reliable meringue, and more patience. Also, maybe I'll be able to find almond meal. My little food processor did not want to grind the almonds to a powder consistency.
Good for a first try though.
