Since I got a mini food processor from my mother in law for my birthday, the first thing I decided to make was some salsa. Chevy's salsa~ Oh lord do I love this stuff. I swear their salsa is full of crack, but apparently all that's needed is some pureed garlic and cilantro, and blackened tomatoes. (well, with other veggies...)
I used this recipe: http://www.food.com/recipe/chevys-salsa-185851
You don't need a barbecue grill like the recipe says, a griddle pan will do. Also, the recipe is a bit heavy on the jalepeno. Peppers at H-mart are huge, so I bought six really ripe ones, pureed the roasted peppers with seeds, then added it to the already made salsa, one tablespoon at a time until it reached the right spiciness. Even with all the pepper, it won't get too spicy. If you want spicy, you're going to need some different peppers.
All in all, it's pretty dead on flavor-wise, and cost about $8 to make over a quart of salsa. Totally adding it to everything.
