Finished Slouching Towards Bethlehem. I wasn't in love with it until the last few essays. The one on Hawaii, the one on LA during the Santa Ana (winds), and the one on New York were all exceptional. Started Ladders to Fire by Nin. Thus far it is not great. I cleaned off my desk today, and recycled a gigantic number of assignments from this and...

Lovely lovely weekend. Ate half my sandwich on the drive and read The Chalice and the Blade (Eisler) aloud to finklestein on the way to LA. It was OK, after reading the intro and first 1 1/2 chapters, I don't believe I will be finishing it.

We were recieved by a lovely lady, a glass of lambic, and a kitty twosome. Maxx and another...

Finished Last Exit to Brooklyn in record time. Its fantastic. It might just be my favorite book in a long time. Started the Crimes of Love by de Sade, and I think I put the Chalice and the Blade by Eisler in my bag for the long drive to LA that will embark in approximately 45 minutes. Mike's car got broken into this week, so...

I need to update, but I have no particularly interesting news.

I am bored at home by myself, baking potatoes and yams for gnocchi, prepping creme brulee, and procrastinating returning rented movies and buying some ingredients.

I finally finished Anais Nin's Incest and Diary 1, which is very reassuring. Next on the reading list is Last Exit to Brooklyn, Hubert Selby Junior.

I've watched some...

So much for a perfect mouth. The dentist called back to say that she had missed a cavity after all, so I got my very first filling today. Now I'm dribbling soup down my face 'cause I'm so hungry I can't wait for the anesthetic to wear off. This is followed by laughter at myself which includes a great half smile.

When finklestein is high on cold medicine, he is five years old. He called me to tell me that he left work early, so I skipped school to check on him at home. When I got there, he wouldn't stop throwing ping pong balls at me, and now he's working on an arts and craft project. He's also singing "This land is my land..."

The past two entries were accompanied quotes from The Sirens of Titan, which I just finished and loved. I restarted Don Quixote by Kathy Acker, which I will finish this time. I also restarted Incest by Anais Nin, which also means that once I get to the August entries, I'll be restarting The Diary of Anais Nin vol. one.

in other news, i went to...

Finished reading The Nature and Evolution of Female Sexuality, which was very medical but quite interesting. Now I'm reading the Sirens of Titan. It is pleasant.

Party on Saturday was great. Much fun.

Eating dessert for breakfast and snacks is maybe not healthy, but definately delicious.
