This past summer maybe some SuicideGirls got pissed on by a dwarf in a bar or some drunk chick tried to start some shit with them. I know that happens a lot in Los Angeles but this time it may have been three young people trying to get a foothold in show business so you may have been featured in the film Bar Fighter.
Bar Fighter is the movie weve all been waiting for. Idiots getting beat up for being idiots. Actually its a Straight to DVD that tells the documentary tale of Jack Moser and director/cameraman Joel Lugar who live in Los Angeles and are desperate to become famous. The two of them decide that Jacks very hot girlfriend, Nicole Rayburn, will go to bars, flirt with men and Jack will come up and challenge the guys to a fight outside. All on videotape. The first fight Jack learns the lesson of not turning your back on the guy because he is tackled from behind and the fight lasts about 5 seconds. Along the way they meet the always drunk and bisexual, Raelyn Hennessee, who thinks they are Girls Gone Wild and is always flashing them. Raelyn becomes fast friends with the trio so much that she stays with them while they are making the movie and ends up making out with Nicole to Jacks chagrin. Also they eventually bump into their good friend the also always drunk dwarf the 4 6 Peter Badalamenti. He has the magic power to be able to piss whenever he wants which helps Jack in starting fights.
Now this film may sound like a reality show rip-off crap but it is surprisingly funny and poignant. All the people in it really seem like they are acting and that is very hard to pull off. We see Nicole and Jack come closer at first then are pushed farther apart by Jacks willingness to get his ass kicked. Joel is a very convincing person who gets Jack into lots of trouble and Peter and Raelyn are such characters that you will never forget them. Its strangely mature and extremely immature at the same time.

Daniel Robert Epstein: Jack how are you doing?
Jack Moser: Pretty good and you?
DRE: I am well. Where are you right now?
JM: I moved back down to LA from Colorado.
DRE: Whose idea was it to do this insane idea in the first place?
JM: It was kind of me and Joel [Lugar]. We kind of just came up with it.
DRE: How did you become the guy who became the fighter?
JM: We were both talking about struggling and hes more of the filmmaker and Im more of the actor type.
DRE: Had you ever gotten into a fight before?
JM: Maybe one or two but not that many.
DRE: Had you and Joel thought about previous similar ventures like Jackass or Bum Fights?
JM: No. We liked Jackass and stuff like that but in a way that was harder for us because we didnt have a major network backing us up.
DRE: Did you guys have more friends than we see in the movie?
JM: Um, not all our friends were in it. We thought it was a good thing because we wanted to keep it to ourselves.
DRE: How many people told you that you were crazy?
JM: [laughs] What this week?
DRE: [laughs] When you were doing the movie.
JM: We kept it kind of low key. We got good and bad reactions from people. It was about even. Either way they were entertained.
DRE: All of you were so natural at times it seemed almost not real. Was there anything special you did to keep it so real?
JM: I dont know if you noticed but not everyone is natural. We would talk to each other off camera especially Raelyn. But she was still pretty awesome. Could you repeat the question?
DRE: Was everyone really just acting like themselves?
JM: Yeah. Like with Peter, you cant really fake that.
DRE: How old were you when you did this?
JM: 21 and now Im 22.
DRE: Do you regret doing it at all?
JM: I think everything we do good or bad makes us who we are.
DRE: Does anything still hurt?
JM: Not right now.
DRE: I know the movie is just coming out but has it done anything for your acting career?
JM: Um, Ive been doing some interviews and stuff which is cool because I wouldnt have gotten to do that unless I did the movie. As far as standup and everything else youve just got to get out there and do it yourself. There is no shortcut for that.
DRE: Are all the fights you had on camera in the movie?
JM: Yeah, we didnt get into too many fights but we did get into a few. They didnt last too long.
DRE: You guys must have been expecting them to be longer.
JM: A little bit. Not a whole lot longer. At least Joel was. They were shorter than I thought.
DRE: There is one fight we dont see because Joel is in the bathroom. Then the camera is out the car, you come bursting out and some guys threw you against the windshield and it cracks. How did the fight start?
JM: Joel was right behind me the entire time. We were drinking and bullshitting. He was swinging the camera and flirting with girls. I started some shit with this guy because he kept bumping into me because he was dancing violently. I thought Joel had it camera but I turned around and he was gone.
DRE: How is it getting punched?
JM: Its just like getting kissed at 100 miles an hour.
DRE: That should be on the poster.
Have you and Nicole gotten back together?
JM: No.
DRE: Why did you guys break up exactly?
JM: It wasnt totally because I wanted to get back into fighting. It was different things. Shes really pretty and a nice girl. I dont know. We both wanted to move on.
DRE: When did you meet her?
JM: When I first got to Los Angeles doing comedy stuff.
DRE: Did she think you were really funny?
JM: She laughs when I tell her to. No Im just kidding. Usually she laughs when she gets the joke.
DRE: Did you expect the movie to come out as well as it did?
JM: I just kind of reserved my expectations because the whole experience has been crazy. I might pay to see it in the theatre.
DRE: But you couldnt have expected all the editing tricks they used.
JM: Yeah that helped a lot getting that good editor. We had good footage but it was just figuring out how to put 27 hours of stuff into a good story. We knew the fights were going to go in but we didnt know what else.
DRE: Did you help with the editing?
JM: Not too much. I had notes on what had to be in there but that was pretty much it.
DRE: Had you done any acting we would have been able to see before Bar Fighter like a movie or TV show?
JM: Pretty much not. Ive been in the news a few times but you would have only seen that if you live in Denver. I wasnt even the main guy on the news just someone in background.
DRE: Has anyone you fought with in the movie resurfaced at all?
JM: No. we had to go out of the way to find bars where people would fight.
DRE: If you really wanted to fight someone why didnt you just walk into the bar and a take a poke at someone? What made you feel you had to create a situation?
JM: The people who do Bum Fights do stuff like that and thats pretty sick. Thats wrong and I didnt want it to be like that. Anyone can just go and beat the shit out of someone. Just hit a baseball hat over their head when theyre not looking. But I wanted to make sure they agreed to fight.
DRE: That makes sense.
You seem pretty surprised when you got your ass kicked.
JM: Well I wasnt expecting that to happen. But it was good.
DRE: You are not any kind of professional fighter, why did you not expect that to happen?
JM: You never expect that. You cant do this expecting to get your ass kicked, that will make it easier for them.
DRE: What were you like growing up?
JM: Smaller. I dont know.
DRE: What kind of music were you into?
JM: I went through a rap phase like everyone else. Then I got into dance and house music.
DRE: Were you always able to get girls as good looking as Nicole?
JM: For some reason they like to laugh.
DRE: Do you know what Raelyn is up to now?
JM: No I havent talked to her for a few weeks.
DRE: What about Peter?
JM: Peter I think is back in Florida.
DRE: Hes a nut, huh?
JM: Some people think he takes it too far but I think he goes just far enough.
DRE: Was he drunk when he peed on that bible?
JM: Hed had a couple because we were hitting the bars.
DRE: Its pretty amazing he can piss whenever he wants.
JM: I wish his talents could go further than just our film.
DRE: When did you first see the finished Bar Fighter?
JM: In May.
DRE: What did you think of it?
JM: It was kind of stretched out. I really wasnt sure what was going to happen with it, but it came together well and I was happy about it.
DRE: How do you think you came off?
JM: I look kind of like a chump. But at least Im an entertaining chump.
DRE: When you first saw the footage did you not remember a lot of it because you were being beat up?
JM: Yeah but some of it came back to me. Maybe I blocked it out because it was too traumatizing.
DRE: Have you been learning how to fight better for Bar Fighter 2?
JM: If there is one. I have been taking some courses in that direction but well see what happens.
DRE: Does your mom know you were doing it?
JM: I like to tell all the women in my life about whatever I do.
DRE: Would it ruin the movie if you learned how to fight?
JM: I dont know, but I know my face will get less ruined.
DRE: Have both your parents seen it?
JM: I dont know if my dad has gotten around to it.
DRE: What did your mom think of it?
JM: Shes real supportive. Ive tried to explain it to her but shes a little upset. My mom doesnt want a Bar Fighter 2.
