so I was really frustrated by practice last night and my new band in general... firstly, I just auditioned for them when I got to LA county and wasn't expecting to get in as they'd tried out like 10 vocalists and i'm really a gutiar/bass player trying something new. Now two months into the song writing process i'm still finding my voice and experimenting with limits and all i get is criticism. Now constructiove criticism is fine and well especially when it is sort've guiding me in a direction where everyone is happy. But really... I just showed hem my first effort with our new song last night and two of them were all over it... DO THIS DO THAT. and this was after I told them i was singing it dry to see if the rythym of the melody works with the bass and drums and would wait until the guitar was there (grahms amp broke) before i play around with infliction and such...CAUSE I'M PLAYING OFF THE GUITAR. We are recording our first batch of songs this week and I can't wait to lay down the vocal tracks so they can see two things... 1) The songs sound much different outside of our concrete box rehearsal; space. 2) my voice is a lot more interesting and stronger than i think they notice during the song writing process....AND has a lot less in common with HHH than theyy think.
