That's a funny pic of the cyclists taking their "Nature Break". I never really thought of Lance Armstrong as a guy who had to go to the bathroom. I thought he was some kind of weird superhuman who was above the rest of us and our gross bodily functions. Hmmm... I got some thinking to do...

I just read about this incident from yesterday...fighting over mountain points:

Fisticuffs over mountain points?
The duel over winning the polka-dot jersey for the best mountain climber may be more intense than expected. That the riders fight it out on their bikes is normal, but they don't usually literally fight it out while on their bikes. According to CSC's Jens Voigt, that's exactly what happened yesterday.

The two who got it on yesterday without boxing gloves were Walter Beneteau of Bouygues Telecom, whose teammate Jrome Pineau is leading the mountains classification and Saunier Duval's David de la Fuente, who is second in the rankings. The two mixed it up previously, being fined for "irregular behaviour" on Wednesday.

Writing on www.sports1.de, Voigt described the scene this way: "Today the two were riding next to each other and all of a sudden, the Spaniard hits Beneteau full in the face! It was really loud, just like in a boxing match! Beneteau's helmet and glasses practically flew off his head! He swerved, because of course he hadn't been expecting anything like that."

"Behind them everyone was shouting, 'Hey, are you crazy? If you're going to fight, go to the side of the road! Leave us out of your problems!' Beneteau didn't blink an eye but went directly to the commissaire. I think, that they will throw de la Fuente out of the race."

I agree, i think he needs to be thrown out...thats a given if you fight physically.

Did you notice, in the last 3km of todays stage...the whirling bungee people...spinning and whirling up and down. Phil Liggett made a comment he doubts these people will remember the tour

Devil guy> I didnt see that edition of bicyling yet but that funny about Zabriskie interviewing Floyd, since they used to be roomies in Spain! AND they used to blow off training sometimes, until Lance got wind of it. They were riding for Lance and Floyd didnt yet have a real focus..Lance knew he had potential and after Floyd and David Z were drinking something around 15+ cappucinos, Lance called Floyd and said,"you are riding with me tomorrow". Its a real nice story in Lance's second book, "Every Second Counts".

The devil guy....he kind of sold out. The last I saw him he was wearing a green outfit, apparently sponsored by an oil company? (BP?) But its cool that he is passionate about something.

I would love to the the Tour caravan which runs the course before the stage and has alot of weird vehicles. Oh nooo....they wont stop playing Lemond!!!!! HE is now saying he could have won 10 Tours and it wouldnt have been enough.

McEwen wins! That was interesting...Thor fighting til the end and will be in yellow again. I didnt see the hand thing this morning, and you know, I wasnt watching for them at the end but i think they were suppose to ban them in the final 2km. I still wonder about whether it was actually the green hand yesterday?? I could clearly see Thor was hit BEFORE the green hand in the picture...well, whatever..it could have been anything at those speeds.
Too bad for the T-Mobile rider today...Kessler. It looked like he had enough but its hard to outrun a train!

Floyd: Yeah, he is still only 21 sec back overall, one second behind Popovych. We will see in the mountains how strong Floyds team is...Valverde is also one to watch, but he has to make the entire race this year. Keep in mind, Lance was well protected and invisible in the first week. A long way to go still. However, I think Floyd may have been involved in a small crash today near the end? He's ok but that can rattle the nerves, which is what getting past the first week means, when things settle down after that...and riders drop like flies
George is riding awesome this year...gaining confidence daily...attacking or staying just behind the sprinters.
Zabriskie is getting a bit of press even though he isnt that good of a rider overall. He wont finish any closer than 30 minutes down in the end...and just because he is such a good TT rider people are talking about him being a GC guy. He's a nice guy, but a good helper.

You know....Boonen has been so good...it was kind of funny that he didnt have any team member today to help him win and then gave up. McEwen was BOXED behind Boonen and came to grab 2nd. Goes to show, never give up. Did you watch last year? McEwen was robbed of a stage victory...then came back the next day and won again.....pointing to the judges or crowd or somewhere...pointing to his jersey. THAT was awesome!

This IS pretty cool to have someone else to share the tour with.

Cannot wait for the 3rd week mountains....only 5 official stages this year but they are some INTENSE stages.

I dont know about Thor...no news yet. I would say, yes, he'll be alright...but did you see when they played back the replay multiple times? He hit something hard and RIGHT AFTER he had enough blood on his arm from a deep wound. Anyway, pretty scary. Sprints are crazy enough, but there's always the fear that a crazy person would do something to a cyclist.
Cant wait until stage 2.

yeah so, this entry was supposed to have a comment that said "it's rainy in philly." but i sent it from my phone, and we all know those never turn out right...

12 hour shifts are mighty intense, but at least you get into the groove of it.
