I never know what to write here. I feel like I should write something, and then I end up writing something like this saying I don't know what to write. I had an idea the other day, but now I can't remember what it was. I think it might have had something to do with Sarah Palin, but I'm not sure what, exactly.
Anyway, I'm under 200 lbs., which is huge. I'm gonna go buy a vest soon. Apparently, vests are the hot accessory this fall.
Ah, I thought of something! That stupid Genius thing in the new iTunes. It's frickin' junk. Oh, I'm listening to The Clash? And you think I'd like other stuff by The Clash? Real perceptive, there, Genius. Oh, and you think I'll like the album Marquee Moon by Television? Well, guess what? I do, and it's already in my damn iTunes library!
I understand what Apple is trying to do with it, and they really just want to drive more business to the iTunes store, but it isn't doing what I want it to do. Ideally, I'd like it to expose me to more music that I might not have heard of. I don't need it to tell me that I might like Uncle Tupelo and Son Volt when I'm listening to Wilco. I know that I like Uncle Tupelo and Son Volt, in fact I already have music by them.
Y'know what would work? If instead of just recommending albums and songs, it had a section that recommended artists that one might enjoy. That's all I really care about, being exposed to new artists. But when three quarters of the recommendations are albums and songs by artists I have, but don't own, it bugs me. There's a reason why I don't own some of that stuff already.
