Working on a Sunday.

Guh.

Just did two e-mail interviews for LONG HOT SUMMER, one for Newsarama.com, another for Comicon.com's Pulse. The Newsarama thing sounds like it's going to be part of a short series of interviews with me, so make sure to tune in as I search for opportunities to choke on my own feet. Both features should be running separate batches of...

Everyone's loving Britpop all over again.

I'm not sure if it's because of all the great music coming out of the UK these days or that it's just ten years on and time for a big ol' nostalgia fest. Either way, lots of music mags are reassessing the 90s Britpop boom, which, if nothing else, makes for some fairly interesting reading.

And which got me...

was in a bar the other day when 'this is hardcore' came on and i remembered how great pulp are. sometimes it's good to be reminded of such delights! and how wonderful to live in a world so full of delights that some can be forgotten...

in other news, have just had your preview pointed out to me and am liking it. greatly. can't wait to see more! more importantly am liking the nature of your journal, and would like to add you in order to keep abreast of Cool Stuff if this is ok?

I think it has more to do with the fact that so much kick ass music is coming from the UK moreso than nostalgia or anything else. I'm up for listening to music from anywhere yet nearly everything I play these days seems to have its roots across the pond.

In other news, it doesn't get much cooler than having your book plugged by Warren Ellis...

I guess I had typed my credit card information wrong when I ordered those "Y: The Last Man" so the order didn't even go through. Funny, that. I'll pay for shipping and send you a great mix cd if you want to get rid of the ones in your office (31-36 is what i need). That would be aces.

ps you don't happen to have astonishng xmen #11 lying around do you? hehehe.

Psssh I'm sure you've got plenty more...hairy...years ahead of you.

I was pretty damn ill recently and a lot of my hair fell out, i actually was tempted to do a Natalie Portman and start from scratch...

Luckily I decided against it.

Haha, look at us, discussing hair. Like a couple of girls. Hmmmm.

Pleased to eMeet you, anyway.

I dreamt last night that I was hanging out with Neil Hannon at a party. We were drinking expensive port and regailing the other guests with our versions of various Scott Walker tunes.

The night before, I dreamt my contact lenses were stuck to my corneas and I gouged my eyes out trying to remove them.

The mind boggles.

You know it's going to be weird NOT working on a book with you.

About to send you over three jpegs.

Lazy Sunday afternoon.

Managed to sleep in fairly late this morning and then have a long and leisurely breakfast (somewhat extended by the HOUR wait), and now I'm at work attempting to get ahead on the next week.

We went to see GRIZZLY MAN last night and that turned out to be quite good. That poor guy had some serious problems and despite his belief...

You know what I hate?

Going to bed tired and then waking us tired. I mean, WTF? I slept, alright?
I'm supposed to wake up R-E-F-R-E-S-H-E-D!

...

I'm going back to bed.

I hear that - I actually slept for six hours today (which is pretty good for me), but I still required a nap later on.
joekeatinge:
As far as Dead Enders goes - I just picked up a nearly complete run at a garage sale over the weekend. It looks pretty sweet.

I'll let you know what I think later this week.

Once again woke up with Madness on the brain "In the Middle of the Night" being the precise song stuck in my head as I emerged from slumber but I've chosen to ignore that and spend the day listening to Belle and Sebastian. Which is probably good, because for whatever reason, I'm super-stressed and extremely irritiable today, and I'm hoping the dulcet tones of B&S...

B&S soothes the soul!

As for Dead West, I didn't really like it. The art was hard to follow and there really wasnt any character development or any reason to feel empathy for anyone in the story. Hell, I didn't even know who most of the people were. Hopefully it's not just me. Plus, you can only see "BAM BAM BANG SHOOT" for so many panels without getting completely bored. His other book wasnt too bad from the parts I read of it though.

You need to drop what you're doing right now, make your way out to the local comics shop and grab a copy of Ande Parks' CAPOTE IN KANSAS from Oni Press. It's a fictional account of Truman Capote's experiences in Kansas whilst researching IN COLD BLOOD and it's easily one of the best graphic novels I've read in a long while. If your funnybook store...

There's nothing WRONG with Meltdown, persay. It's a good toy store. They have some rad indie stuff I can't find a lot of places, but all in all I prefer the Golden Apple.

Capote In Kansas was sold out of both stores. Not like I walked away empty handed, though. Poor impulse control.
margot_dent:
less of a hassle indeed. i'd rather get my wisdom teeth removed than park on melrose; i parked at the wrong end yesterday at 715, the parking spot was only until 8. i dont remember if i've ever "power walked" in my life before then.

I woke up today with the urge to listen to Madness. I haven't really listened to Madness much since the early '90s, but for whatever reason, I felt like giving them some time on the ol' iPod today. Maybe it's because there was something about them in the last issue of MOJO. They seem like one of those bands due for a reappraisal. Everyone keeps...
