I've been putting this health update off but - despite the initial good news I got a few weeks ago, biopsy results were actually not great. Looks like my stomach lining is severely - potentially permanently? - damaged, so that's fun. I am looking at long term management vs treatment afterall. This is honestly still a better answer than I could have gotten, but I'm...

Oh that has to be tough. I always feel so lucky to live in AU whenever i read stories like this. Just can’t imagine that level of expense when falling Ill especially for an ongoing condition.

Again ... best wishes!

Still waiting on biopsy results, but otherwise all the news from my medical procedures this week is good. I have a pretty severe infection in my stomach lining, but it's extremely treatable. Already on new meds and a different restricted diet (though less restrictive than what I've been doing for the last two months) and should be fully back to normal within a month or...

So happy for you that it’s not a serious diagnosis and that there is a plan. Frustrating when there’s a problem and they find “nothing wrong”. Stay strong💪🏻. You look amazing😍

I'm so happy you got some answers and that they are less scary than what they originally suspected. ❤️

This week and next I finally have a bunch of diagnostic procedures and hopefully can get better, actionable info for the health issues I've been juggling since January.

One of my doctors put me on a restricted FODMAP diet a couple months ago which thankfully has already made a big difference. I was on a running hiatus for a while, but as evidenced by several...

@kiley tagged me in the summer questionnaire so I had to do it 😌.

#1 Your favorite summer activities?

It gets 100-100F here during the summer months, so anything in the shade/water is best. Need to get out paddleboarding soon! Will still be trying to get hikes in early before the heat though.

#2 3 Things you hate about summer?

Nothing I really hate, but

Ten years ago today I finished packing up my car, left New York, and never looked back. The road trip along the way and subsequent move to San Diego changed my life in ways I hoped for, and ways I never expected. A lot of people told me “No.” I’d had a recent heartbreak and a lot of weird trauma around the end of that...

This is an amazing blog post and a very inspiring reflection. It's funny, my big exodus in life was to NY, which became the setting for a similar set of challenges and accomplishments in my life. In your posts, you always seem so at home in the Western US, it's interesting and motivating to hear some of the back story of how you ended up out there (I had no idea you were a fellow NYer). I hope you continue to find as much fulfillment and adventure in the next decade as you have in the ten year since you left the East Coast!

@gentlemanghost I feel very lucky to have a lot of friends and family in NY still - it's a great place to be able to visit more easily, but out West feels like home and NY never did for me. But I have plenty of friends who NY is definitely home for, and I'm glad to hear it's been good for you! I hope good things keep coming for you as well 🙂 thank you!

I had the gigantic honor of being invited to lead Zion National Park's Pride Parade at their first ever Pride event in the park. I got connected to the park through the local LGBQT+ community, since I've been leading group hikes for them.

The parade doubled as a service parade, and we cleaned up trash along the trail as we went. My heart is so...

Sorry I haven't been terribly active or updating much recently. I'm having a bit of a terrible time tbh, and this has been a pretty shit year for me (granted with some nice highlights).

Please note, this blog is a bit of a vent but I am *not looking for unsolicited medical advice, thank you*

I've basically been having non-stop health issues since getting covid...

Tomorrow we close and new buyers officially take over the property my ex and I bought together. This has been such a dragged out process of emotional and financial stress.

The end of the relationship on its own was stressful enough. Imagine being with someone for almost 5 years, buying a house together, and then getting broken up with over text message after they secretly...

Ugh... you have my sympathies and my congratulations. It's not just about past relationships... property deals themselves seem like a taxing process, long drawn out affairs where your life feels stalled out. Waiting for other people to finish the rituals and incantations that somehow make a piece of land yours or not yours. Well, happy to hear you're unsaddled of that (and presumably now saddled with fat stacks of cash). A good thing to happen in May.

Free at last, free at last...  It's sad to hear how badly he treated you!   Really glad to know that most of that crap is behind you!   Enjoy the trails and road ahead of you!  Wishing you the absolute best for the rest of the year and beyond!  :)  Btw - the PCT is pretty snow free at Barlow Pass on Mt. Hood; we had a deep snow pack (less than Sierras) and great XC ski season.   Happy Trails to you!

1. 3 Favorite things you like about spring?

Everything! Warmer temps, the start of longer days, wildflowers, camping/hiking/canyoneering season, listening to birds in the morning and crickets at night...

2. Who's going on vacation, holiday or weekend getaways this spring?

Just got back from a 3 day backpacking trip in Death Valley for my birthday! Will have to do a separate blog for that soon,...
