Raccoons are wonderful creatures, but be careful.  Along with rabies they can get infected with something called Baylisascaris procyonis.  Infection in humans is rare but it can be severe.  

Maybe you know this already.  I know because I took a baby raccoon to a wildlife sanctuary a few years ago and they would not take him, because of the possiblilty of infection.
