@jacinto2 it's a joke in Australia thanks to a television show. I'm sure if you google the phrase you'll find the YouTube video :) but hey, I'm also not adverse to finding someone to marry!Β

We use 'Mate' in the UK exactly the same way as Australians do, eg. " Oi! Mate! That your dog? It just drank my bloody pint!" Or, the usual male response on meeting a friend: "Alright, mate?" The reply to a friend turning up with beer/food/porn/money owed/exactly the right car part, etc. : "Mate!" ππππ
