CE is the Current Events board here - it's a very angry board sometimes!! I love you too, Rokko! kiss kiss love love I know we're all glad to have you here in Silliness with us!

Also, I should have known what Cosmic Era was without clicking the link, but it's been WAAAAY too long since I watched any anime. frown

Yes, I find CE severely lacking in silliness. I've tried injecting some silliness into it, but gave up long ago.

I'm struggling with teaching myself Spanish, and it should be far easier to go from English to Spanish than Japanese to English. Plus I had 8 years of French that SHOULD have helped prepare me.blush: And yet, here is Rokko, amazing us with her use of the English language and her determination to improve her skill, and I'm too freaking lazy to work hard at learning a language that so many around here speak.blush

Same here. I took years of Spanish courses, still can't speak the language worth a damn. I'm good with the one language, not all the others. I can't even imagine making the leap between languages as different as English and Japanese.

I'm so happy to hear that from you, SocietysPliers and Accuser! smile

The other day, at Shibuya-station in Tokyo, a monkey appeared. tongue
I saw it on some news program.
Then when I read the newspaper called JAPAN TIMES which was all written in English, and I found the article about the money. And the title of the article was

The Monkey Goes Bananas

Does it mean "the monkey appears"?
Is it a common way to say?

Oh, it's a pun.

A pun is a joke where you take one sentence and use it to mean two things.

The joke there is that monkeys are supposed to like bananas.

However, "go bananas" is a slang term for "go crazy" in English. However, it's a really weird slang term, so you don't really hear people using it UNLESS they're specifically referring to a monkey- because they're dumb and think it's still funny. tongue

I hope that's not confusing.

Only further evidence for my hypothesis that New Yorkers are ridiculous people.

Thank you, my friends! Now "The monkey goes bananas" is solved.

Why some ppl posting here saying like.......
* I likes......
* I makes ......
* I takes.......

verb+s is for the case of the subject = third person, isn't it?
How does it work "I verb+s", and I want to know if there's a particular meaning of this way, like emphasize instead of using "much" or "so much"?

Every time I see these, I'm confused. surreal surreal

People are talking in 'baby talk' or like the way the cats in the 'lolcat' pics talk.

Or like the cartoon character Popeye. He uses the letter 's' improperly, as well. But here, people use it playfully, although I too am confused as to why it's supposed to be fun.

Like a LOT of people say or write "sammich' instead of 'sandwich.'I've never liked that for some reason.

Is "a suicidal act" just an act, right? It's not about real suicide, things which is for using as like "To swim accross the ocean would be suicidal". Is it correct?

*kill myself
*commit suicide
*put an end to my own life
*take my own life

Which phrase is the strongest to tell my will?
There are other phrase for that?

Correct. It's also often used to exaggerate the seriousness of something. Like "You want to buy a drink for that big biker guy's girlfriend? You're suicidal!"

These are equally strong, equally scary phrases - especially for all of us here that like seeing you around.
