I noticed the sign in the window, as well. Could that be some Arabic language?

It actually looks a bit like hebrew but I can't read it backwards... it's definitely a semitic language of some sort. Arabic is a bit more scrawly than that.

Yeah, it's great to blame glands and genetic disorders and all, but believe it or not, thirty years ago there were far, far fewer morbidly, or even greatly, obese people than there are today. This is a product of environment, not genetics. So, chances are, they did stuff their face.

Not to say that there aren't exceptions; but just because we can find exceptions doesn't mean the rule's invalid.

True enough but what I'm saying is, everyone's looking at the picture and going on about how sad and awful the kid's size is like -why are you eating fries? you're huge! Yeah this is the fast food nation or whatever, but there are other explanations. Think of the average persons' reaction to the under-weight chick drinking a diet coke.

Yes, very true. But at the same time, a child that size is NOT natural. Yes, there are naturally large children. yes, genetics play a role. But for a child that young to be that size, it's more than just genetics/whathaveyou.

Fine fine fine... but if my kid had a "gland problem", I sure as fuck wouldn't allow him to eat at McDonald's.

First of all, I don't want kids, and that's one of many reasons.

Second of all, they can dance all they want... they AREN'T GETTING IT. In fact, that dancing is good for them, so I'd let them do it until they got tired, and then I'd give them dinner since they'd be starving and not as picky by then. wink

Hmm, I don't think it's Arabic or Hebrew. It's actually looking a bit cyrillic, so maybe Greek or Russian?

Looks cyrillic to me, and it's an AP photo credited to Shakh Aivazov, who I think is a georgian news photographer. The first time I saw this photo it was printed across from a picture of some starving homeless russian kids, so my guess would be russia.

Well, I'm sure everyone here thinks someone else needs their asses kicked. The question is, are you against bringing to light the subject of obesity in America and, apparently, the kingdom of Georgia (or wherever), or are you for the fast food industry burying us in our own fat asses? Put more simply: Are you pro-fatty or anti-fatty? Answering that simple question will illuminate whose ass you think needs kicking. Unless you were purposefully being vague, in which case... quit being vague.
